Hard to recycle plastics - a solution
We are fortunate in that our local council accepts many plastics in the grey bin. However, there are still items they cannot take. Here are some suggestions of where you might take hard-to-recycle products:1. Boots (Handforth Dean, Stockport, Macclesfield) will take empty healthcare, beauty and wellness products such as travel minis, toothpaste tubes and make-up products. Their scan2Recycle scheme also allows you to track your impact and earn rewards if you wish. Check out their website for details: https://www.boots.com/shopping/boots-recycling-scheme
2. The Body Shop (Macclesfield/Stockport) offer a similar service:

2. Many supermarkets are now accepting clean, soft plastic packaging in their recycling units in-store. This means items such as plastic film, crisp packets, plastic netting from fruit, pasta bags, chocolate and biscuit wrappers and plastic pouches. Some packaging which says on it that it cannot be recycled often can. It is just that the companies are updating their labels. Let's all make an effort this year to make a difference to the planet.
