What are the careers or further education that this course be suitable for?

The Pearson BTEC National Extended Certificate in Sport is intended to be an Applied General qualification for post-16 learners who want to continue their education through applied learning, aim to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment in the sport sector.

The qualification is equivalent in size to one A Level.

The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education. Employers and professional bodies have also been involved and consulted, to confirm that the content is appropriate and consistent with current practice for students who may choose to enter employment directly in the sport sector. Progression routes include employment or further training in the following fields:

Course Details:

A BTEC Extended Certificate is an academic, practical and vocational course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and activities, in addition to a number of externally set tasks and exams. This qualification is suitable for students who would like to study other A-level courses.

Subject Content:

The course is made up of 4 units (or subjects) which cover the broad range of the sports industry. Two of the units are assessed internally through the production of a portfolio of evidence. This evidence is generated through written assignments, presentations or practical demonstrations. Two of the units are assessed externally through an exam and set tasks.

The externally assessed units that are assessed by Pearson by a set task or a written exam set and marked by Pearson are as follows:
