University of Cambridge: St John's College Webinars - April to June
St John’s College Webinar Programme is a series of online sessions running from February to June to support students on their application journeys to Cambridge.
The monthly webinars will run on weekday evenings via Zoom. They aim to provide help and guidance to high-achieving students who are looking to apply to academically competitive universities. The webinars cover a wide range of topics relating to university applications and student life – from Q&A sessions with members of the Admissions team and advice on A-level choices to workshops on subject exploration and personal statements.

How to Manage Money at University, UAE event 29/4/25
During the session, Freddie and Lydiah will offer real examples of what they spend in a week and how using budgeting tools helped them to manage money smartly. They will also discuss finding part-time jobs while studying and what students need to think about before applying. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions too.

Army Careers Event 7/5/25
The Army Careers Centre (ACC) in Stockport will -be holding a careers presentation and have the infantry engagement and Royal Artillery teams set up on a stall full of equipment for anybody who would like to know more about the Army Foundation College in Harrogate. The venue is Stockport Army Reserve Centre, 1 Armoury St, Stockport, SK3 8AU. The event is on Wednesday 7 May 2025 at 18:30. It will consist of a series of short presentations that will last approximately one hour highlighting the numerous career opportunities in the Army for school leavers. Refreshments will be provided.

Cambridge University Open Days - 10 and 11 July
During the Open Day you can find out all about courses, the Colleges and departments, University facilities, the application process, student life and finance via:

The programme will run from 9:30am to 4:30pm and will be the same on both days so you will only need to attend one day. Liverpool John Moores Astrophysics Work Experience Week 2025, open for applications
Each summer, the Astrophysics Research Institute (home to The Schools' Observatory) runs a non-residential work experience week for Year 12 students. This week consists of talks and workshops covering various topics such as astrophysics, astronomical data, and science communication. Students will work in pairs to research an area of astrophysics and produce a poster summarising their work which will give them an idea of how professional research is done at a university. There will also be opportunities to talk with current students about what it is like to go to university.
The 2025 Work Experience week runs from the 7-11 July.
They only accept applications from students meeting at least one of the following criteria:
- Attend, and have always attended, a state-funded school or college (non-fee paying) in the UK
- Be from an ethnically diverse background
- Be a young carer
- Care experienced
- Have a seen or unseen disability
- Be the first generation to consider university
- Have qualified for free school meals

Doctors Live: Virtual Anatomy Club Weekly Programme
The Doctors Live Virtual Anatomy Club is a 3-month after-school weekly programme covering all 12 organ systems, the sessions run for 2 hours every Tuesday evening 6.00-8.00pm, led by two practising doctors. We cover the body systems in a fun and interactive manner by dissecting our virtual anatomy model. We also cover diseases affecting the organ system and try to solve anonymised real-life patient cases together. The sessions are aimed at any students interested in Science and Healthcare who want to learn something outside of the school curriculum. Our passion is to inspire students to learn about human science in an engaging and affordable manner. The course suits all students aged 13 and above. Certificates will be provided for participation.

Horseracing: Early Career Programmes & Apprenticeships
Ever thought about a career in the Horseracing industry? There are various career paths students can take, and a wide range of training to support them.
Foundation training at racing schools, the National Horseracing College and the British Racing School, leads to completing an apprenticeship in a racing yard, working hands-on with horses. There are similar options in Scotland with the Scottish Racing Academy.
There is also an option for those that want to work with horses but don’t want to ride. The National Stud offers an Entry to Stud Employment Course for those with no experience handling horses, leading to a role in the breeding industry.
If media interests you, then there is the Racing Media Academy who provide students with work experience and training at some of the largest media companies within Horseracing. This involves a one-week course at the British Racing School, followed by a paid placement in one of the many racing media outlets. Applications are invited in November.

Manchester Met Uni - First Generation Scholarships
First Generation supports young people who would like to go to University, but whose parents did not have the opportunity. This programme will give practical support and guidance to students in Year 12 and 13 to help them access and then transition to university. The programme consists of:
- A place on the First Generation University Taster event (3 days on campus experiencing university life )
- A range of development sessions including personal statements, interviews, confidence, time management and exams
- Access to guidance through the application process
- Access to peers with similar life experience

Virtual work experiences have been accepted by the Medical Schools and Dental Schools Council as valuable alternatives to in-person shadowing.

MI5 Software Engineering Apprenticeship

City Century is a collaboration of 50+ law firms offering solicitor apprenticeships. A Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship is a great route to becoming a solicitor. Over a six-year period, through work-based learning (four days a week) at a law firm and study (one day a week) at one of the UK’s leading law schools, apprentices gain valuable legal experience as well as a Law Degree (LLB) and the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE).

Scholarships: The University has launched three new scholarship programmes for Science, Engineering and Environment. The programmes are aimed at students from low-income backgrounds, providing much needed financial support over the duration of their studies. There are nine scholarship programmes available, to award to 20 students from across the School of Science, Engineering and Environment. The Sutton Trust Pathways to the Professions online programmes
The Pathways programmes supports disadvantaged students in Year 12–13 to explore career opportunities in Banking & Finance (in-person and online), Consulting (online), Engineering (in-person), Law (in-person and online), Medicine (in-person), and Veterinary Medicine (hybrid) for free.
Far too often these careers require professional connections, the ability to take on unpaid internships, and/or soft skills which aren’t taught at schools in order to break in. Our Pathways programmes bridge that gap for disadvantaged students.

UBS - Banking and Finance Apprenticeships
UBS offer both degree and advanced apprenticeships in lots of business areas.
Degree apprenticeships are carried out in partnership with the University of Exeter, a distinguished member of the UK’s Russell Group universities. Apprentices get a set amount of working hours dedicated to an element of learning with full access to the university’s academic resources.
Apprentices can gain a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Finance or a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree. These are great choices for students new to the financial services industry. They will also gain a number of recognised qualifications throughout both programs and be awarded their degree at the end of their fourth year.
The advanced apprenticeships typically range from 15-18 months and will enable students to gain industry-recognised qualifications to start their career. Completion of the advanced apprenticeship can also lead to a relevant higher apprenticeship and further qualifications.

Volkswagen Group apprenticeships
Over 450 apprenticeship opportunities are available across the UK in 2024.
