STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS WHEN MOVING AROUND SCHOOL

Student – Staff Conversations

All conversations between students and staff should be conducted in a pleasant and courteous manner. Students speaking inappropriately to staff must be reminded of what is appropriate, reprimanded or be subject to a referral. 

Movement around the school - Staff and Student Guidelines

• Ensure the students leave the classroom in a controlled and orderly fashion.
• Accompany the class out of the room and supervise the corridor outside your classroom
• Students should be encouraged to move purposefully from lesson to another to reinforce punctuality.
• All staff and students should walk on the left of the corridor
• All staff and students should adhere to one way systems

Equipment

Students should bring the necessary equipment to school each day. 

Inappropriate items such as chewing gum, personal stereos, ear pods, mobile phones (see policy) and vapes. Any inappropriate items which are brought into school will be confiscated. If a student is suspected of bringing a weapon (e.g. knife or laser pen) into school, members of the Leadership Group are empowered to search for and seize such items in the interests of the safety of all students and staff. If this is not safe to do the police will be contacted and asked to conduct such action.

Staff who confiscate any item should record such items and the dates of confiscation and return in the book kept in Student Services.

Outside

• Students may not go to the pond area unless accompanied by a member of staff
• Students must keep five yards from the perimeter fence and must not talk to any intruder who comes onto the field or school premises.
