A number of the courses on offer have a Non-Examination Assessment or NEA – previously known as coursework - component. This includes all of the BTEC and Cambridge National courses, along with the GCSE courses denoted with an asterisk in the course choices lists.
These subjects tend to have a large practical element and many of the NEAs have deadlines towards the end of Year 11. Therefore, students and parents must carefully consider the number of NEA subjects a student chooses, so as to avoid too much pressure on them and their time during Year 11. We will look carefully at the balance of NEA subjects a student has picked in order to avoid a student being overloaded with too much NEA work.
