Year 10 students were treated to an encounter with Chloe Tatton and Liam Danaher from Franklyn Financial Management. They introduced their roles and routes into the sector, before setting a short task on mortgages.
First, Chloe talked about her route into the sector: A-Levels -> Level 4 business admin apprenticeship -> Degree apprenticeship in Chartered Management (currently studying for this). She was keen to point out that, even though she works in finance, the role she took up does not use maths! In fact, the role she is currently doing didn't really exist when she first started as an apprentice - her role has grown and developed as her skills have grown and developed.
Next Liam explained how went to university to train as a solicitor, before, ignoring his dad's advice, he changed tack and followed his father into finance. He noted that he could equally have taken up an apprenticeship in either sector and been financially better off. However, he contrasted by saying that this is down to personal choice for learning styles.
